Although academic reading forms the basis for a successful course of study, it is still insufficiently promoted, especially in the area of German studies abroad. Against this background, the following article presents a didactic outline for comparative reading. For advanced students of German as a foreign language, a combined reading of specialised texts and literary texts that focus on all aspects of multilingualism is proposed. In this way, students are better motivated to deal with complex content and acquire individual techniques for analysing texts.
