In one of his Latin poems (ad Horatium Flaccum), Politianus demonstrates a deep knowledge of Horatian poetry, that is evident from several intertextual allusions to Horace’s Carmina. This imitatio presupposes a new attention to the exegesis of the Horatian text that was at the centre of some Politianus’ academic courses at the Studio Fiorentino and of his philological research.
