Lanciani e la redenzione del Campidoglio
Abstract
Lanciani represents a central figure in the Roman milieu of the early XX century, both for his indomitable determination in the political debate, and for his constant commitment to the preservation of the historical monuments of the capital, illustrated particularly in the context of the debate against the progressive consolidation of the German presence on the inviolable and sacred Capitolium. The evocation of the classical world as a mirror for contemporary history in the atmosphere of militant nationalism will not fuel the intransigent message of the fascist propaganda, but will always remain expression of liberal and moderate values, in an effort to rescue Rome’s glorious past which transcends time and space.
