Scoperte di classici latini durante i secoli XIV e XV in una lettera di Lorenzo Pignoria (1615)

Simone Signaroli

Abstract

The Paduan scholar Lorenzo Pignoria, in a letter to his friend Francesco Pola (July 1st, 1615), put in an ordered list several ancient rare texts discovered by Italian humanists in the XIV and XV centuries, someway anticipating the achievements of later scholars (e.g. Remigio Sabbadini, whose researches partly concerned the same subject). The paper discusses this valuable example of early-modern scholarship and provides an annotated edition of the letter.
