DANNI DA CARPOPHILUS MUTILATUS ERICHS. A FRUTTI DI MELOGRANO

Abstract

Viene segnalato un attacco di Carpophilus mutilatus Erichs. (Col.-Nitidulidae) al frutto di Punica granatum L., verificatosi in Puglia nel settembre 1968. L'intestazione ha causato la perdita totale del prodotto in varie zone da me visitate.

The author refers on the attachs of Carpophilus mutilatus Erichs. (Col.- Nitidulidae) on ripe fruits of Punica granatum L. in Apulia during September 1968. In every fruit live about hundred larvae of Carpophilus, which feed on the succulent parts of the fruit. The attached parts become dark, ruin and fall to the ground. The larvae become full grown in 15-20 days. Pupation takes place in the ground, and after 15-20 days it changes into adult.
