Abstract

Il saggio si focalizza sull’opera di Gabriel Chappuys, umanista nella Francia dei Valois. Obiettivo precipuo dello studio è dimostrare come, leggendo e traducendo gli autori italiani, egli prenda parte ai più urgenti dibattiti politici contribuendo a forgiare le tecniche, i linguaggi della prassi cortigiana.

The essay focuses on the work of Gabriel Chappuys, French humanist at the court of the Valois. The main objective of this survey is to demonstrate how the scholar took part in the most urgent political debates by reading and translating Italian authors. Translation permitted him to forge the techniques of courtly life.
