L'HELIOTHIS ARMIGERA HB. SUL GAROFANO IN PUGLIA

Abstract

In questo lavoro l'autore riferisce su una grave infestazione di Heliothis armigera Hb. sul garofano in Puglia.

Sono descritti i danni causati dalla larva, le modalità di attacco della stessa e l'influenza della temperatura sull'intensità di attacco dell'insetto.

Viene messa in evidenza l'assenza di parassiti e di predatori della Heliothis sul garofano nella zona in cui sono state eseguite le osservazioni e sono riportati i risultati ottenuti in prove di lotta effettuate con insetticidi a base di DDT e di Parathion.

Si afferma, data la continua e graduale ovideposizione del nottuide ed i costumi endofitici delle larve, la necessità di interventi settimanali aggiungendo DDT agli insetticidi, normalmente usati nello stesso periodo per combattere altri fitofagi del garofano.

This work refers about a strong attack of Heliothis armigera on carnations in Apulia.

Damages caused by the larva, the way of attacking and the influence of temperature on the attack intensity of the insect are described.

The lack of parasites and predators of Heliothis on carnations in the area under investigation, has been put into evidence: the Author reports also the results obtained by test-treatments with DDT and Parathion compounds.

It is suggested that, due to the gradualness and constance by which the eggs are laid, and in view of the endophytic habits of larvae, it will be necessary to treat once a week by adding DDT to the insecticides which are normally applied in the same period to protect carnations.
